Massage is beneficial for pain management, chronic back and neck tension, injuries and trauma, stress relief. It can also be just for pure indulgence and relaxation. Regular massage treatments are valuable for maintaining health and well-being as well as helping prevent or reduce flare-ups of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm.  This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of well-being.  Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norephinephrine, are also reduced, helping those with sleeping problems, anxiety, exhaustion and poor immunity. Various techniques are used by our practitioners and will be discussed with clients before the treatment begins.   Deep tissue, trigger points, cupping , cranio-sacral therapy and gentle relaxation massage can be used, depending on what you need and want on the day.

The Benefits of Massage include

Reduced muscle tension,

improved circulation,

stimulation of the lymphatic system,

reduction of stress hormones,

Increased joint mobility and flexibility,

speedier healing from soft tissue injuries,

heightened mental alertness,

reduced anxiety and depression.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is safe and beneficial for both Mother and baby.  During different stages of massage, some women may feel discomfort in the lower back, may suffer from sciatic pain, get aching legs or feet, cramps,  fluid retention, insomnia or just feel generally uncomfortable at times. Massage is beneficial for all of these conditions, relaxing those muscles that typically tighten during pregnancy, relieving discomfort and pain. Regular massage during pregnancy supports both mum and baby, leaving you calm and rejuvenated. Depending on the stage of pregnancy, you may be required to lie on your side during the treatment.  Our practitioners have special pillows and bolsters to support women in this position so it is comfortable and there is no pressure or stretching in the already softening ligaments.  We believe side lying is the best position for late pregnancy.

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures.  One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians were using cupping therapy in 1,550 BC.  Karen applies silicon cups by depressing the cup, causing a vacuum and applying it to the skin.  The suction in the cups cause the skin and superficial muscle layer to be drawn into the cup.  When combined with remedial massage, cupping aids in the release of trigger points, increasing blood flow to the area and releasing toxin.  For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation.

Ka Huna Bodywork Massage

A holistic approach to rejuvenation & healing for body, mind & soul.

Ka Huna bodywork originated in the South Pacific and was used during the Rites of Passage as a transformational massage and healing system. It is also known as Hawaiian Temple Style massage and Lomi Lomi.

This beautiful form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body-mind in its physical, emotional and spiritual dimension.

Ka Huna bodywork is unique in a number of respects. As the practitioner, Li Lin uses her hands, forearms and elbows and moves around the table (using flowing Hula and Tai Chi style movements). Life force (chi – prana) energy is utilised to apply soft and deep tissue massage. Choreographed music is played, attuning the flow of the massage to harmonise the various rhythms within the client’s body, mind & soul. Organic cold-pressed virgin coconut oil is used.

Ka Huna bodywork is a wonderful way to pamper a friend or yourself, to bring the joy of life to your body, a feeling of peace to your mind, a sense of wonder to your soul.
