Marita completed a Bachelor of Applied Science degree majoring in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, at the University of Western Sydney in 2006. She has been working at Thirroul Natural Healing Centre ever since.
Acupuncture is the main modality Marita uses, and she prefers to specialise in the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Her treatment session usually begins with soft tissue massage and cupping, followed by acupuncture in combination with infrared heat. This treatment combination is very effective, and allows the patient to fully relax, helping the release of tension in specific areas, thus enabling renewed circulation of Qi and blood to the tissues where needed. This type of treatment is good for patients with very painful conditions, as it allows for the release of tension in a gentle way.
Auriculotherapy, or Ear Acupuncture is often used during treatment, by massaging or needling specific points on the ear, it is very effective for treating musculoskeletal disorders too, another aspect to enhance treatment.
Marita has been interested in natural therapies for many years and has also studied Reflexologoy and Shiatsu massage. These extra modalities have influenced her approach to treatment, which creates a very relaxing and calming session, aimed with the intention to nurture, recharge and revitalise energy stores.
Marita is a registered member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and maintains her registration requirements. She is also a member of the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association, and engages in ongoing training and development.
